Those of you that read me by actually checking the site, rather than RSS readers will notice that I've been messing around with the layout a bit this week. Since I read all my blogs via Google Reader now, I never see or care how a blog is laid out. But still, it's there. Someone will look at it. So I might as well make it easy to read or at least not actively annoying.
That's actually a problem I have with quite a few blogs I've stumbled across. They are all so...cluttered. Everyone seems to want to add a blinky to their site these days. I've seen some bloggers that insist you need all that blog bling to be taken seriously as a blogger. Why? I'm writing about food, not webdesign. What purpose does the clutter serve? I've been very careful to only add things to my blog that I think will enhance the utility or interest of the site.
What do you think? Do I need more blog bling? Or do I have the right amount? Or even too much? Gimme some thoughts on this.

You'll probably hate me for saying this, but I actually preferred the old design. The colours were simpler and less distracting. The new layout is perfectly nice, though.
I always read people's full blogs, even though I use Google Reader; I like to check out the links, and if there's a way of adding a comment while staying in Google, I'm too dumb to see it.
Nope, no hate. I'm not sold on this template either, hence asking for feedback. I do wish there was an option for a three column layout though.
It's too bland... the colors are nice and soothing, but RED is the color for food and stimulating the appetite. Also, why not have a picture of food, SOMEWHERE, near the top? In the header or something. The layout is fine, it's just... boring.
Hadn't even considered that. I am sort of limited by the templates they provide, but I bet I can stick a food picture in here somewhere.
I think it looks fine. But I don't read it through your site :P But the cheese platter image is not centered in the box. It's got alot of margin to the left and none to the right
Can't help that. There's no way to fix that in the settings.
make the image smaller??
I forced it with CSS in my browser to fit correctly with a width of 215px.
I liked the new layout better.
Could use some chimps, though, I think more blogs need pictures of chimps... maybe acting like people, because that is best.
MUCH better. The colors are better and the cheese tray looks classy and makes me hungry.
I think we have the same oven, except mine is black.
